Norwich Primary Academy receives glowing Ofsted report
Back
Our school community at Norwich Primary Academy are celebrating after receiving an Ofsted report that highlighted the warmth and care shown in school, the inspection demonstrated that we have taken effective action to maintain the ‘Good’ standard already achieved and build upon it.
Rated twice previously as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, we have been praised again for the way pupils talk about learning and their aspirations to achieve.
Discussing achievement in school, Ofsted said:
“[Pupils] relish reward points for their work, attitude and effort. They are very proud of their achievements and are striving to achieve the recently introduced ‘diamond’ star.”
Ofsted praised the way the school embeds community into school life, with personal development at the forefront. Pupils at Norwich Primary Academy are taught with care and in a way that sets them up for bright futures.
Pupils' development was described by Ofsted as:
“Pupils have valuable opportunities to contribute to their community. They display tolerance and respect. Pupils learn how to stay safe and understand the importance of healthy relationships.”
Norwich Primary Academy teaches an aspirational curriculum based on best practice, making sure that pupils learn all key knowledge and setting up children for the best possible outcomes right from reception. Learning phonics and developing reading skills are key to successfully engaging at school, being able to understand each lesson and making key progress.
Mrs Blake, Principal at Norwich Primary Academy said:
“We are delighted to receive such a glowing report and proud of achieving this great outcome for the whole school community.
The dedication of our staff and community are vital in supporting the continued success of our school.
Our pupils were a delight during the inspection and were determined to show the inspector what they loved about their school.”
Writing and reading are important for understanding throughout school and Ofsted stated:
“The focus on raising attainment in pupils’ writing is having a positive impact. There is a clear progression of writing skills in place. Pupils are encouraged to take pride in the presentation of their writing.
The school makes reading a priority. Children learn to love reading as soon as they begin in the Reception Year. A range of well-chosen books and stories are threaded through the curriculum. Readers at the early stages of learning to read receive effective additional help and opportunities to practise their reading. Over time, this helps them to catch up.”
Gareth Stevens, CEO of Inspiration Trust said:
“It is fantastic to see that Norwich Primary Academy have been praised for the range of opportunities that are provided for pupils and the care and effort that goes in to looking after every child. We are thrilled to receive this report from Ofsted, recognising the hard work from leadership, governance, staff, pupils and wider community to make Norwich Primary Academy the successful school that we know.”
Talking about attending the school, Ofsted stated:
“Pupils receive a warm welcome daily at this school. They benefit from how deeply staff care about them. The school makes time to get to know pupils’ needs and interests.”
